Women’s Leadership Council
The Women’s Leadership Council (WLC) is a membership-based initiative, developed specifically for women who want to make a personal impact on social issues affecting women and their families.
Women play a vital role as community and business leaders. By coming together, they can positively influence the lives of other women and their families through donations and volunteer efforts that will ultimately improve the quality of life in the region.
In partnership with United Way York Region, the Women’s Leadership Council will focus its efforts on where and how help in the community is needed most.

Launch of Women’s Leadership Council
On Tuesday, September 27, 2011, United Way York Region organized WomenUnited – a luncheon hosted and sponsored by Allstate Insurance Company of Canada. The event was a great success with over 50 dynamic women in attendance and a special welcome by keynote speaker, Debora Kelly, Editor-in-Chief of the York Region Media Group, who shared an inspiring, personal discussion about her publishing and journalistic career. The luncheon was also an opportunity to introduce the Women’s Leadership Council and recently appointed Chair of the Council, Joan Kelley Walker.
