Building Industry Luncheon (BIL)
The 31st Annual Building Industry Luncheon (BIL) took place on June 19, 2013. A sold out crowd of 1,200 builders and developers from the Greater Toronto Area came together to raise a record $775,000 in support of United Way York Region. In addition to the record amount raised at the event, two anonymous donors pledged $450,000 to celebrate Alfredo De Gasperis, the event founder who passed away earlier this year.
“In a region that is growing so fast, services are running to keep pace. The extra support should be celebrated. Bravo,” said Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne, the event’s keynote speaker.
This year’s BIL was chaired by Jim V. De Gasperis, Marc A. Muzzo and Bill Fisch.
“What an honour for Marc and I to continue the partnership with United Way that our fathers started some three decades ago,” said Mr. De Gasperis. “I think it’s a testament to our industry’s heart and soul – building strong communities for all.”
In its 31-year-history, the BIL has raised over $8 million for critical frontline programs in municipalities across York Region.
